Hofburg Vienna - the home of truly unique events

The Hofburg Vienna knows how to celebrate: 50 years of Wiener Kongresszentrum Hofburg Betriebsges.m.b.H. Transferring the venue to private management in 1969 proved a key moment on Vienna’s way to becoming the high-profile congress destination it is today. The management will celebrate the 50th anniversary during the HOFBURG Silvesterball on 31 December 2019.

A different angle

Customer expectations are constantly shifting, and our venue always moves with the times. Digitalisation in a historic setting highlights the venue’s versatility. The recently launched 360° presentation of the Hofburg state rooms includes a range of different set ups for innovative event formats. And the website redesign presents the venue from a different angle.

Customer expectations are shifting all the time as technology and society changes, and today, more than ever, venues need to make sure they are prepared. The Hofburg Vienna is all about communication, which means keeping its finger on the pulse and adopting a high-level yet relaxed approach to digitalisation in such a historic building. To help respond more closely to the needs of our customers and participants we developed a 360° presentation of our event spaces. “This virtual reality customer experience was created as part of the Hofburg Vienna’s joined-up corporate communications activities,” Managing Director Alexandra Kaszay explained.

The new interactive event presentation tool opens up new perspectives through its depictions of a range of set ups in the state rooms. This visual information will be integrated into our website www.hofburg.com and sales materials in future. Ultra HD full screen mode with a minimum 150 megapixel resolution panorama and detail zoom function provides exceptional quality and convenience for users. Immerse yourself in a world of images steeped in an opulent atmosphere.

Events in autumn 2019
The autumn event season gets underway with the Börsianer Festival 2019 an investment and finance fair on 25 and 26 September. Design District 1010 will transform the first district into a walk-in design showroom for around 8,000 people from 6 - 8 October. The HOFBURG Vienna is at the heart of this exhibition of selected premium brands.

Cytokines 2019 (20 - 23 Oct) is expected to bring around 700 scientists to the former state rooms of the imperial Hofburg palace. The automotive industry will gather at the venue on 29 October for the A & W Tag 2019. Featuring a unique concept, the ART & ANTIQUE Hofburg Vienna fair from 9 - 17 November is the annual get together for anyone who is anyone on the art scene.

The Hofburg state rooms not only host international events such as the 11th Global Peter Drucker Forum which will focus on The Power of Ecosystems from 21 - 22 November, but also set the stage for sports gatherings such as the Imperial Fitness Convention Vienna 2019 from 23 – 24 November, showing just how versatile the venue is. The start of December (6 - 7 Dec) will see leading medical specialists converge on the venue for the 2019 ÖGDV Dermatology Meeting.

Imperial charm and contemporary verve will set the tone at numerous prestigious company presentations between now and the end of the year – culminating in the glittering HOFBURG Silvesterball which provides an unforgettable experience for 2,500 ball guests.

50th anniversary - Time to Celebrate
In 1969 responsibility for operating a former imperial residence – with a history stretching back over 700 years – as a multipurpose event centre was conferred on Wiener Kongresszentrum Hofburg Betriebsges.m.b.H.  In 2019 its present day management team will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Hofburg Silvesterball, revealing its vision for the future.

Over the decades, the Hofburg Vienna’s greatest asset has always been its ability to effortlessly unite the traditional with the contemporary. Its standing as a premium brand with innovation at its heart can be seen in the way state-of-the-art technical equipment is integrated into the historic fabric of the building, as well as the progressive event formats it has helped to co-initiate.

Its New Year’s Eve highlight also looks back on a proud tradition in its 50th anniversary year. “Time to Celebrate” promises to be a journey of discovery into a world of joy and celebration. The HOFBURG Silvesterball brings out the best in the former imperial residence, with more than 500 people directly involved in preparing this evening of surprises. A spellbinding performance featuring top artists and a multimedia show get the night off to an impressive start. The audience will also be treated to a specially commissioned composition by internationally celebrated composer Pavel Singer, entitled Happy Birthday HOFBURG Silvesterball.  The artist draws on various parts of the musical spectrum from Baroque to rap.

At the Strictly Waltz Room in the Geheime Ratstube – a new addition this year – a waltz ensemble and master of ceremonies will ensure a great atmosphere all night long. As the name suggests, everything revolves around waltzing here: switching between waltzes to the left and to the right, dancing at speed or gliding across the dancefloor in more sedate three-four time.  And it is not just younger ballgoers who will take to the floor of the Silver Sparkling Disco where a top DJ will ensure that the night lives on long in the memory.

Highlights such as the stage show in the Festsaal and Zeremoniensaal at midnight are broadcast to numerous screens throughout the venue.  A retro medley themed Congratulations and Celebrations will be performed, with number one hits from 1969 and 1970 – the first two years of the HOFBURG Silvesterball – embedded in the overture from the comic Fledermaus. Celebrate with us. Book your tickets now!
