Hofburg Vienna - flexibility is our strong suit

The past two years have shown just how flexibility shapes change – and has facilitated the emergence of a host of new meeting formats. And while it proved impossible for the Hofburg ball season to play out once again in 2022, we were able to use our digital event capabilities to host a number of large-scale international events during the year which were broadcast live to participants all over the world from the Hofburg Vienna. Looking ahead to the spring with optimism, the interest in staging high-calibre events continues to ride high.

Meet with confidence – events in 2022

Even though the start of the year fell far short of expectations, the calendar for the months to follow is packed with bookings. Interest in staging on-site events continues to ride high among customers, pandemic permitting. The first congresses are set to return in April, and preparations are gearing up for a number of fairs in the second half of the year.

“We are looking forward to welcoming back various regular events in spring 2022, including successful annual fairs and congresses such as marke(ding) on 7 April and the 41st International Vienna Motor Symposium from 27 - 29 April 2022,” announced Managing Director Alexandra Kaszay. The Construction and Real Estate Industry Ball will provide a night of ballroom dancing to upbeat tunes in the opulent state rooms on April 30. From 2 - 4 May, representatives of the tourist industry will get together at the venue for the Austrian Hotelier Association (ÖHV) Congress. VieVinum, which will take place from 21 - 23 May, is the leading event for showcasing Austrian wine in its home market, and a hub for the wine industry in the heart of Europe.

The line-up of congresses in the second half of the year covers a broad spectrum of topics from the Dreiländertagung Vascular Surgery Meeting to the 2022 Vienna Congress of Cardiology and the 2022 Meeting of the Austrian Society of Dermatology and Venerology (ÖGDV), as well as a number of interesting fairs.

We have received several confirmations for 2023 and beyond, including one for the 67th Austrian HNO Congress, which comes as a further indication of continuing interest in on-site congress formats.

United by know-how – tradition and progress

The Hofburg Vienna management team stands out for its expertise. Which is just one of the reasons why it has been entrusted with operating the Hofburg Redoutensaele as an additional venue for 25 years now.

After a fire in 1992, a five-year restoration project transformed these state rooms into one the city’s most breathtaking locations. Here, history and the present day go hand in hand. The Grosser Redoutensaal – which provided the setting for Mozart operas, the premiere of Beethoven’s 8th symphony, performances by Franz Liszt and Josef Strauss and a summit between US president John F. Kennedy and the premier of the USSR Nikita Khrushchev – continues to make a striking impression thanks to Josef Mikl’s stunning paintings.

Between 2017 and 2023, the Hofburg Redoutensaele will continue to provide a home from home for the Austrian Parliament before returning to their previous role as an out-of-the ordinary backdrop for captivating events from 2023/24: “They still exist, those fantastic locations!” was how one of our international guests put it only a short time ago. We are all looking forward to hosting events in this unique historical setting, which comes with all the technical equipment needed to stage unforgettable events.

Next-level communication – blueprint for success

Using a combination of focused creativity and strategic thinking, we work closely with organisers to come up with the kind of experiences that stand out from other people’s events on an emotional level, too. Delivering a clear competitive advantage for our customers in the process

Smart stage settings with the right lighting and camerawork to create the perfect picture are in greater demand than ever before, with creativity coming into its element in the video design. Both target groups – on-site and digital – need to have access to the same quality of experience, which means that an additional focus has to be placed on facilitating meaningful interaction between both sets of participants.

Tools such as surveys, chats and video talks as well as co-creation technologies are all tried-and-tested ways to increase engagement. The Hofburg Vienna team helps organisers to design innovative concepts that bring messages to life while helping to combat Zoom fatigue. Organisers and planners have a golden opportunity to completely rethink their formats. And experience has shown that there is no such thing as a one-type-fits-all solution. A cohesive

event identity that runs through all communications from invitation to stage design is the ideal way to enhance recognition. A unique backdrop and atmosphere are also decisive factors.

The events of today are carefully stage managed, interactive and multisensory experiences. The Hofburg Vienna sees itself as a full-service partner from the initial idea to designing, planning and staging events. We always have been – and always will be – diversity pioneers and are here to guide you through the process.
